The 9th Tehran International Cartoon Biennial
organizing committee invites cartoonists
from all over the World to participate in this contest.

Regulation:
1-The contest is open to all cartoonists.
2- The contest will be in four categories:
A) Cartoon (Two Sections)
Theme: 1. Fear
2. Free
B) Comic strip, theme: Free
C) Caricature, theme: Political portraits
and Free

3) THE PRIZES:
Grand Prize: 8000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
(The main cartoon theme)
Firs Prize: 2000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
Second Prize: 1500$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
Third Prize: 1000$, Trophy and Honorable Mention
The first to Third Prize will be awarded separately for
each section of the contest.
The jury panel of he 9th Tehran Cartoon Biennial will also award 10 selected artists with Honorable Mentions.
Special Prizes will be offered by various Sponsors, Establishments, Associations, Newspapers and Agencies.

4) A maximum of 3 works in each section can be submitted by the participating cartoonists.

5) The dimensions of works should not exceed the minimum 20*30cm
and maximum 30*40cm

6) Comic strip must be presented in one page and without any words.

7) Only original artworks are accepted, without any kind of frame,
accompanied by the entry form and author?s short biography and photo. 8) Quality prints of works achieved by digital tools will be accepted as originals as long as they are hand signed by the author, accompanied by the digital file of the artwork in Tiff format with 300 Dpi resolution on a CD. No photocopies or photographs will be accepted.

9) Name, surname, address, phone number and e-mail of the participant should be written on the back of each cartoon

10) The choice of technique is free, color or B&W and etc.

11) The deadline :22, October 2009

12) The participating cartoons will not be returned.

13) All Cartoonists whom their cartoons are published in the catalogue will receive a free copy.

14) The organizers will do their best to protect all submitted
cartoons from any probable damage, but takes no responsibility
of the damages caused by post or bad transport.

15) The organizers hold all the rights to publish the cartoons submitted to the contest and use them in any from.

16) All participants are considered to accept all the conditions.

“ One Cartoon , Original Cartoon, the Best Cartoon…”
THE CONDITIONS
a)The contest is open to all cartoonists all over the world.
b) The cartoonists are free to participate with already published works as long as these works have not previously been awarded in any other contest.
c) Choice of subject is free.
d) The participants may send only one work.
e) The dimensions of works should not exceed 30 x 40 cm and only originals are accepted.
f) Name, surname, address, phone number and country of origin of the participant should be written on the back of his/her work. And also a short CV of the participant should be attached.
g) The works must reach the organizing association not later than July 31, 2009.
h) The results will be announced on August 11, 2009.
i) The participating cartoons will be kept at the Cartoon and Humour Museum of Istanbul by the Association of Cartoonists.
j) The participating cartoons will be put into an album. The cartoons for the album and the exhibition will be selected by a jury. The album will be sent to the cartoonists whose pieces of work are exhibited and published in the album.
k) The participating works will be exhibited first in İstanbul, then the big cities of Turkey such as Ankara, Izmir, Adana and Antalya.
l) Participants are considered to have accepted all the conditions.

15th INTERNATIONAL ANTIWAR CARTOON SALON 2009

The International jury will select 100 of submitted cartoons which are to be exhibited, published in the Salon following prices:

AT THE UNITED NATIONS IN NEW YORK
IN THE PERIOD FROM THE 9th TO THE 20th OF NOVEMBER, 2009.
According to the already agreed dates, the Salon organized in the cities that are giving away the awards, and also in other cities both in Serbia and world wide.
Cartoonists and fine artists from all over the world have the right to participate. They should submit at most three (3) original cartoons, which have not been awarded by any other international competition, on the subjects of antiwar as well as solidarity between people and nations. The artworks should be utmost A3 formatted, while art technique is at the artist be properly packed in order to be protected from damage, whereas on the back of the artwork data on the artist should be written (such as: name, surname, address, telephone/fax, e-mail).
The cartoons are to be sent to the following address:

The 1ST.QUALITY INTERNATIONAL DENTAL CARICATURE/CARTOON CONTEST

1-The contest is open to all.It is permitted to pass the contest entry
form,to friends or clubs amauters as well as professional.
2-Each individual entrant can send a maximum of 6 caricatures/cartoons.
3-The artist's name address and e-mail should be written
on each entry drawing, beside the title of the caricature/cartoon.
4-There is no fee for entry.
5-The contest is divided into two section.A caricature section and a cartoon section.
5-One 500$ prize will be granted to the best caricature/cartoon drawing, winning the contest.
Each entrant will receive a prestige participant certificate,and 12 medals will be
send to the best works,6 for each section.2 gold,2silver,4 bronze and 4 honorable medals.
6-The caricatures/cartoon drawings could be black and white or color.They should be the original
work of the artist.Cartoons\caricature that are deemed by the jury to be the same or closely

7-The object of the contest is to convey a dental scene-funny,scary,dramatic etc.
The relation between the dentist and his patient,as well as facial expressions,body
movement and dynamic positions,are all important.

FIRST INTERNATIONAL "ALEKSANDAR KLAS" CARTOON CONTEST

The oldest Serbian illustrated review "Ilustrovana politika" is organizing the first international cartoon contest honoring its own the most famous cartoonist Aleksandar Klas (1928-2002).

Since 1950 over 30 000 his cartoons were published in national and international newspapers and magazines, and he had over 60 individual exhibitions. He got more than 130 prizes, so he entered in "Guinness's book of records" as the most rewarded cartoonist in the world. Besides cartoon his occupation is painting, as well as illustration of books.

Participation rules:

1. Competition is open to professional and amateur cartoonists from all over the world.

2. The theme of the cartoons is free.

3. Participants take part in the competition with original cartoons. Cartoons must be signed by the cartoonist in case that they are submitted as digital prints.

Photographs, photocopies, etc., will not be accepted.

4. Size of cartoons should not exceed 30 x40 cm.

5. Name, surname, address, phone number, e-mail, country of origin of the participant should be written on the back of his/her piece of work.

6. Works must reach the organizer not later than November 1, 2009, packed in protective cover to:

7. Result will be announced on second half of November 2009.

10. Jury will award the following prizes:

- Grand Prix A. Klas: 1000 euros and diploma

- 5 diplomas

11. Participating cartoons will be put into catalogue. The cartoons for the catalogue and exhibition will be selected by a jury.

A catalogue will be sent to the cartoonists whose piece of work are exhibited and published in the catalogue.

12. Organizer reserve the right to use the sent cartoons for ILUSTROVANA POLITIKA advertising purposes without any special fees paid to the authors:

to be exhibited and reproduced in a variety of advertising materials, as well as printed in catalogue and review.

13. Participants are considered to have accepted all the conditions.

14. Participants are kindly asked not to post the works via electronic means as these will not be accepted for the competition.

MAYA KAMATH MEMORIAL AWARDS for excellence in cartooning - 2008

Indian Institute of Cartoonists announce the result of the Maya Kamath Memorial Awards Competition for excellence in Cartooning – 2008 and Best Budding Cartoonist.
We are elated, as we got overwhelming support from all the corners of the country, from Jammu & Kashmir to Kerala. We had received 64 entries for Best Political Cartoons contest and 15 entries for Best Budding Cartoonist contest. The jury members had a difficult time to select the best of them. They have selected 5 best cartoonists of India.
Opinion of Jury members:
The entries received for the above awards included caricatures and political cartoons. The jury decided to consider only cartoons.
Out of the entries, many had very good drawing but not equally matched by ideas. There was also an entry from Muhammad Zahoor from Peshawar, Pakistan for which the jury decided to give a special prize.
We also decided to consider the cartoonist on the basis of entries submitted and not on particular cartoon.
The final entries were chosen based on ideas, draughtmanship and humour.

PORTO ALEGRE’s City Hall, through the municipal Office of culture, communicates the interested, the regulation and cronogram of the 17th INTERNATIONAL DRAWING CONTEST FOR PRESS, as it follows: This regulation has the goal to select artist for the 17th INTERNATIONAL DRAWING CONTEST FOR PRESS that will happen from march 19 to April 26, 2009, with the goal to stimulate and divulge, in a wide way, the graphic expression aplied to press, besides giving prizes to each one of the categories described below.
ABOUT THE REGISTRATIONS:
The registration may be done from february 25th to March 6th, 2009, on Av. Presidente João Goulart, 551, Sala 603 -Setor de Mostras e Exposições, CEP 90010-120 - Porto Alegre/RS (Brazil),
from Monday to Friday, from 10 to 12h and from 14 to 17h or
via e-mail salao.press.portoalegre@gmail.com.
To the Works sent by mail or e-mail, the deadline will be also March 06, with the date on the postal stamp of the envelope, and date of the e-mail sent.
Works selected or rewarded on previous editions of this contest will not be accepted.

ABOUT THE PARTICIPANTS:
The constest is destined to professionals and amateurs, on the modalities Cartoon, Comical Cartoon, Caricature, Comics and Editorial Illustration (to newspaper, magazine, book, album cover, cover, etc.).
The registered Works on the modality Editorial Illustration must have been effectively published on the period of march, 2008 to march, 2009, and must be with the original page of the publication, with date and name of the periodic identified. The participants may register 05 (five) Works distributed on any one of the 05 (five) categories.
ABOUT THE PRESENTATION OF THE WORKS:
As it is a Contest of Graphic Arts, there will also be considered as originals the printed Works by printers or any other type of image reproduction, but they must be in high quality. However, it is participant’s choice to send their originals.
The registered Works must be on the Max format of 42cm x 29,7cm (A3). The registered works on the modality Comics may have four (04) pages of 42cm x 29,7cm (A3).
The Works shall be conditioned in cloudy and resistant paper. The Organization Commitee is not responsible for damages to the works and/or not identified. The participants must observ with criteria the following instructions:
-Send, with the Works, the registration form that is on the end of this regulation, with all the itens filled in a legible way.
-All the originals must be properly identified with the full name of the author and the modality, written on the back.
By not following this instructions will imply the disqualifications of the works.
ABOUT THE SELECTION:
Porto Alegre’s City Hall will assign, through the portaria published on the Diário Oficial de Porto Alegre -DOPA, a Selection Commitee and other rewarding, composed by cartoonists, journalists, graphic artists, and representatives of the Municipal Office of Culture.
The Selection Commitee will have as main criteria the creativity, new idea and plastic quality of the drawings and will select obbeying the following propose:
-All the selected Works will participate on the exposition of the Contest on Espaço Vasco Prado on Usina do Gasômetro, Av. Pres. João Goulart, 551 Porto Alegre/RS (Brazil), March 19 to April 26, 2009.
The relation of the selected Works will be to the disposal from March 13, 2009.
The rewarded relation will be published on the ocasion of the solemnity of oppening of the Contest. The selected and rewarded relation will be published on DOPA (Diário Oficial de Porto Alegre). About the Judging Commitee that judge the presented Works, in reason of not presenting what was requested, there will be able a administrative resource of 05 (five) week-days, with protocol of the Graphic Art Coordination.
The presented resource will be judge of the Max period of 05 (five) week days.
ABOUT THE REWARDING:
One (01) prize will be given in the value of R$ 1.000,00 (one thousand reais) to each of the 5 categories: Cartoon, Comical Cartoon, Comics and Editorial Illustration. The guiding criteria are, once again, creativity, new Idea and plastic quality of the drawings.
Honorable mentions may be given, according to the decision of the Rewarding Commitee.
Single Paragraph: The rewarded Works will become part of the property of the Municipal Artistic Colection.
The prizes not requested in 90 (ninety) days, counting from the publication of the result, will loose it value.
ABOUT THE DEVOLUTION:
The not-selected Works will be avaliable to devolution from March 23 to March 31, 2009, on the same place and houd of the registration. From that date on we will not hold responsability for the works that are not properly taken.
THERE WILL HAPPEN NO DEVOLUTION BY MAIL OF ANY OF THE WORKS THAT CAME FROM OTHER CITIES.
GENERAL GUIDELINES:
The selected works may be used by the Porto Alegre’s City Hall, to divulge the event, with no costs.
The registration on this contest implies the acceptance of this regulation; the cases that will not follow it will be decided by the Organization Commitee, according to the law 8666/93.
The Selection and Rewarding Commitees will be soverein on it’s decisions. According to the law 8666/93, 9th article, the members of the Selection and Rewarding Commitees, as well as the servers of the Porto Alegre’s City Hall, cannot participate on this contest.
The costs of the rewarding of this contest will happen by espesas com as premiações do presente concurso correrão pela budgetary endowment 2038339031 and/or 2042-339031. The prizes will be given after the publication of the results and after the resource period. The omissive cases will be decided by the organization commitee.

The results of 2nd" Molla Nasreddin- Azerbaijan 2009 " International Cartoon Contest
The Cartoon Contest was devoted to the 140th anniversary of Jalil Mammedguluzadeh, the founder, publisher and editor of “Molla Nasreddin” satirical magazine, the first one in Azerbaijan and in all Moslem East. 475 cartoonists with 800 cartoons from 70 countries competed in the Contest.
